The 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage is a compact car that has always delivered big on value for money as one of the most affordable new cars you can buy in America. But even after a notable refresh just last year, the Mirage sees further enhancements for 2022. When you’re driving around Buford, Cumming, Duluth, Athens, or Atlanta, Georgia, in a new 2022 model year Mitsubishi Mirage, you’ll now enjoy the benefit of standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a Forward Collision Mitigation system.
As you’d probably expect with such a compact car that’s perfectly suited for the urban environment, the trim level lineup of the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage is almost as compact as the car itself. There are three different versions of the Mirage available, which are the entry-level ES, the mid-range LE, and the top-of-the-range SE. You can now have a smart Carbonite Edition of the Mirage which adds exterior styling features such as red grille accents, lower valance panels, and some faux carbon trim.
Every version of the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage gets a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 76 horsepower and 74 lb.-ft. of torque, which then gets sent to the front wheels through either a five-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CV). The manual comes standard with the entry-level ES trim but the base model can be upgraded to include the CVT if you prefer, but the other two versions of the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage get the CVT as part of their standard equipment.
The Mirage is one of the most fuel-efficient gas-powered cars on the road today, and it even gives some hybrids a run for their money in the fuel-efficiency stakes. Manual versions of the Mirage are rated by the EPA at 33 mpg in the city, 41 mpg on the highway, and 36 mpg combined, but CVT-equipped models are even more frugal with ratings of 36/43/39 mpg respectively.
This may be close to being the least expensive new car in America at the moment but you wouldn’t necessarily think so when you check out the standard equipment levels. Even the entry-level Mirage ES comes with standard active safety gear, a touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity, automatic climate control, keyless entry, automatic emergency braking, and those all-important power features. On top of that, all versions of the 2022 Mirage also enhance their value-for-money credentials even further with an impressive 5-year/60,000-mile warranty as well as 10-year, 10,000-mile coverage for the engine and transmission.
The 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage is a great little car that fulfills its role extremely well and doesn’t pretend to be anything it isn’t.
